The Deer God's Forest

This is my favorite one from the shoot <3 I didn't know caught my reflection until I started looking through them all this week

Princess Mononoke was my first cosplay EVER! I made this for AB'07 It feels like so long ago, hard to believe I've only been doing this for 2 or 3 years...

I learned how to sew to make it, and I still really like the costume <3 Of course if I did it now there would be lots of technical things I could do better and inaccuracies I could fix, but I put a lot of effort into this and I think it came out fine for a first try ^^

This was the second half of my Soi Fon/Mononoke photoshoot with I made the costume, did all the photography.


The mask was probably the most labor-intensive part of the costume. It's made of plaster gauze, fit to my face, covered in a few types of spackley things, then sanded smooth and painted.
The fur headdress is fake fur hot-glued to the mask. It's super soft - there were definitely a few times at AB when some stranger would try to pet me D: The ears are stiff paper with a layer of plaster gauze-putty-spackle-sanding-paint. It's heavy so it has to bear some of its own weight via hidden velcro in the back.
The dress the first garment I ever sewed xD;; It's not hemmed or anything xD;;
I didn't make shoes so I went barefoot for the shoot.
